TRAVERSE CITY, MICHIGAN, May 28th, 2018 – The much-anticipated 50th Anniversary SCORE International Baja 500 has the potential to be the longest and one of the hottest races in recent history. With the course hitting a race-record 542 miles, competitors at this year’s Baja 500 will run clockwise, starting and finishing in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, the seaside port on the Pacific Ocean, 80 miles south of San Diego.
For Duran Motorsports, this will be a chance to clench a Class 10 win at one of the most-anticipated races of the year. The Duran Motorsports / Radar Tires Class 10 team is prepared to overcome all the challenges of this year’s course, primed with the winning combination of Radar Tires, Method Race Wheels, King Shocks and Baja Designs; and the team extensively pre-running each section.
“This year’s course is super fun and it is going to be challenging going up Mikes and Rancho Meling, said Hiram Duran, owner/driver of the No. 1016 Duran Motorsports Class 10 Buggy. “There will be a lot of up hills with silt past Rancho Meling. Hopefully the heat is not too extreme in the Saldaña area as it has been in the past.”
This year’s 500 is primed to throw everything Baja has at the racers – with the annual event traversing through high-speed dirt trails, sand, rocks, silt, natural terrain, washes and canyons – a perfect combination for the teams Radar Renegade R5 tires. The desert is a perfect fit to utilize the durability of the Radar Renegade. The Duran’s will share the driving duties of the No. 1016 Duran Motorsports Buggy with special non-DOT size 33X10.50R15 Radar Renegade R5 race tires in Class 10.
“We’ve had a chance to test our set up in a couple of races, and are confident in the performance of our Radar Tires, Method Race Wheels and King Shocks in some of the harshest conditions in the world,” said Duran. “We’re definitely here to race to the podium.”
